James was the 1st born child he was born on January 11, 1873 in Whitley County,Kentucky and died April 3, 1960 in Miami County, Laura,Ohio. James married Samatha Louverna "Vernie" Harmon on April 13, 1897, daughter of Israel Putman & Mary Elizabeth "McKeehan" Harmon. James and Samantha raised 10 children: Lela{1898-1980}, Clair "Robert"{1900-?}, Lora{1902-?}, Otha{1904-?}, Christine{1907-?}, Roy{1912-?}, Avil{1914-?}, Viola{1916-?}, Vela "Merrill"{1919-?}, Hobert{1922-2003}. James Madison was named after his Grandfather Pvt.
