David "Dave" Smittle was born November 4, 1851 in Youngstown, Adams County,Ohio, died August 30, 1925 in Wayne Township, Adams County,Ohio son of William Smittle & Dorcus "Smittle" Smittle {William & Dorcus was 1st cousins}. In 1877 David married Mary Belle Pollitt in Adams County,Ohio. Mary was born March 25, 1850 in Youngstown, Wayne Township, Adams County, Ohio, died March 12, 1918 in Youngstown, Wayne Township, Adams County,Ohio, Mary is the daughter of George Pollitt & Nancy "Blair" Pollitt.
Both David & Mary are laid to rest in Cherry Fork Cemetery, Adams County, Cherry Fork,Ohio. Their son William Edwin "Ed" born March 1885 married a Laura J. Wardlow. David's siblings was Nancy M. married Samuel C. Fenton, Anna C., Joseph Earl Smittle married Anna E.Kellis.
