James Madison Hinkle was born January 4, 1831 in Buncombe, North Carolina and died July 20, 1909 in Whitley County, Kentucky, is Laid to Rest at Piney Grove Baptist Church & Cemetery Whitley County, near Williamsburg, Kentucky. Served in The Civil War CO. E. 32ed Kentucky Vol. Infantry Regiment December 24, 1862 to August 12, 1863. Son of William Hinkle & Susannah Treadway Grandson of Michael Jr. & Nancy Haggins & G Grandson of Michael Sr. & Rebecca "Sprugin" Hinkle & GG Grandson of Anthony Jacob II & Maria Elizabeth "Groff" Hinkle & GGG Grandson of Rev. Anthony Jacob & Anna Margaret "Dentzer" Hinkle. James married Delia "Dilly" Davis had 11 children together after Delia's death April 7, 1881 then on September 28, 1844 James married Mary "Polly" Taylor and she helped raise James children.
