Andrew Shafer Sr. Born November 1, 1759 at Washington County, Hagertown, Maryland. Died December 2, 1853 in Highland County, Ohio. Son of Frederick Theobald & Catherine (Kissinger) Shafer/Shaffer. Married Martha "Mary" Stroup 1780 at Washington County, Hagertown, Maryland. Daughter of Michael & Mary {?) Stroup.

Andrew & Mary had 10 children as recorded: Andrew Jr, Adam, Susannah, Jacob, George, John, Daniel, Jonas, Anna, and Samuel.

Andrew served in the REVOLUTIONARY WAR as a soldier and right of the headstone is the marker in remembrance of him serving in the war. The engravement inscription on the headstone is of this:

ANDREW SHAFER REVOLUTIONARY SOLDIER DIED Dec.2, 1853 Aged 93 yrs
