 
 Joseph Hayes born April 11, 1877 in Hawkins County, Tennessee and died March 18, 1951 in Butler County,Maud, Ohio, son of Joseph & Emaline "Smith" Mercer. Married Tennessee Dykes on November 17, 1895 in Joseph Hayes parents home in Hawkins County, Tennessee, by W. J. Bailey Justice of the Peace, in presence of Joseph Family and Gertrude Tate. Tennessee was born May 24, 1878 in Hawkins County, Tennessee and died on November 24, 1962 in Union Township, Butler County, Maud, Ohio {West Chester} daughter of Isham & Sarah Elizabeth "Mullins" Dykes. Both Joseph and Tennessee are laid to rest in West Chester Cemetery, Union Township, Butler County, West Chester, Ohio. Joseph and Tennessee had 8 children they are: Hattie, Ralph, Joseph "Joe", Hobart Lee {My Grandfather}, Mattie Lou, Nannalee and Imogene.
