Name: Duckwall Cemetery
Location: Liberty Township
Remarks:
These graves are covered by large cement slab and the monuments are buried face up in this slab. The Farm on which this cemetery is situated was owned by Daniel Duckwall before 1867 and by Charles K. Duckwall in 1916. All stones copied, complied by David N McBribe and his wife Jane N. McBride in the book titled "Cemetery Inscriptions Of Highland County, Ohio", page 275, Map No. 134.
The picture was taken by William C. Hart, April 24, 1993, GGG Grandson of Lewis & Susannah "Susan" (Crone) Duckwall & GG Grandson of Jacob & Margare "Peggy" (Moberly) Duckwall. The monuments are in order starting from the top are Charles K. Duckwall, Clarissa (Brown) Duckwall, Daniel Duckwall, Susannah "Susan" (Crone) Duckwall and Lewis Duckwall. It is amazing how the engraving is still readable after all these years. As I noted above monuments mounted in concrete facing up. When the McBrides were documenting the cemeteries & engravements of each stone, it was in the early 1950's now how long it took then to record and search deeds of the cemeteries I do not know, but in 1954 the book "Cemetery Inscriptions of Highland County" was published.
So this makes the headstones under weather conditions at all times, meaning as of April 24, 1993 when William C. Hart photographed the headstones, What let's give figure of 40 years. Do not know when the concrete was poured and monuments buried face up.
