The Spouse Surname Index

The following linked index is organized alphabetically by surname and subsorted by given names (first names) for all of the 6200 spouses in my Marble Genealogical Database. The database itself is not accessable from the internet, but this is one of two indexes that contain much of the vital information from the database. The number in parenthesis by the link indicates the number of surname entries in each alphabetical index table. If you wish to learn more about a listed individual, send me an email message at lrmarble@ameritech.net listing what is in that index entry line and I will be willing to share whatever additional information that I have available about that individual. I am also continuing to looking for any additional information about the Marbles in America or their ancestors in England. Any corrections or new submissions would be appreciated. In a few years I hope to compile a final Marble genealogy about the Marbles in America.

An explanation of all of the column contents is listed below the following table of links.

PLEASE NOTE: Some of these index tables are very long and contain a lot of cells so it may take your browser up to several minutes to organize and display the table containing the selected part of the index after it is downloaded.

Click on any letter in the table below to access a page of surnames listing that alphabetical portion of the Spouse Surname Index.

unknown surnames

-------------------------------

I have included eleven columns in each index table:

Column 1: Spouse's last name.

Column 2: Spouse's first name (and middle name if known).

Column 3: Parents of spouse. This includes both parents' first names (if known) and the mother's maiden name in parenthesis followed by the father's surname.

Column 4: Spouse's date of birth.

Column 5: Spouse's date of death.

Column 6: Date of marriage (to the Marble listed later in this line.)

Column 7: First (given) name (of the Marble individual married to this spouse.)

Column 8: Middle name (of the Marble individual married to this spouse.)

Column 9: Last name - Marble surname - even though columns 7, 8, are only for the Marble surname, it has been sometimes spelled in different ways in the records: Marble, Marbel, Marvel, Marbell, Marable, Maravelle, etc..

Column 10: This column is titled "Reference" and is actually the individuals date of birth (for dates in the 1600-1700's it might be a baptism date, if the birth date was unavailable). This date is in reverse order for computer sorting purposes: YYYY/MM/DD (year/month/day). An entry of 0000/00/00 or a blank date means that both the birth and baptism dates are presently unknown. (I do not use calculated or statistically generated approximations of dates as created by some genealogy programs). If the year is included, but no month or day is indicated, then it was probably generated by using census or death records and may be off by 1 year (depending upon when during the year the census or death occurred relative to the individual's birthday). A letter following the date, such as a, b, c etc., indicates the order of marriages for an individual who has been married more than once.

Column 11: Lineage reference (titled "Index"). If it includes a "Yes" then the individual is a descendant of John (ca.1605) and Judith Marble of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. "No" either means that they are part of a different unrelated lineage or their ancestry has not yet been linked to one of the earlier large lineages. If it includes an additional letter such as: A, B, C, D, E, F, S, X, then they are part of a major Marble lineage that has a corresponding descendancy chart on another web page (see descendant page) and/or they are included in a GEDCOM file which is available upon request (email me at lrmarble@ameritech.net).
