Foy B. Israel, 85, of Hoopers Creek died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005, at the Laurels of Hendersonville after a short illness. He was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, the son of the late Henry Ivory Israel and Georgianna Brackett Israel, and the husband of Bertha Drake Israel, who died in 2003. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hoopers Creek Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Avery Israel and wife, Terry, of Fletcher; and a sister, Lela Mae Edney of Hendersonville. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Mortuary. The Revs. Donnie Birchfield and Donald Hare will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Laurels of Hendersonville for their love and good care. We will never forget you and we love each one of you dearly. Terry Lane Israel, 56, of Fletcher died unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at her home. She was born in Buncombe County on Sept. 27, 1949, to the late William Clayton Lyle and Mettie Mae Fisher Lyle. She had lived in Henderson County for the past 30 years. She attended the Faith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church for the past year. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Avery Israel; a sister, Linda Justice of Asheville; three nephews; and one great-niece. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Forest Lawn Mortuary with the Revs. Don Birchfield and Donnie Hare officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Faith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund, 10 Sigmon Road, Fletcher N.C. 28732. Lela Mae Edney Gosnell, 82, of Fruitland passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, at the Laurels of Hendersonville following a period of declining health. She was born in Henderson County, a daughter of the late Henry Israel and Georganna Bracket Israel and was an area resident all of her life. A loving wife, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Claude Edney, who died in 1973, and William Gosnell, who died in 1990. She was also preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers. She was a long-time member of Hoopers Creek Baptist Church. A wonderful and beautiful mother and grandmother, she is survived by her son, Morris Edney and his wife, Selina, of Fruitland; a granddaughter, Jessica Edney Davidson of Fruitland; and two great-granddaughters, Ashley Davidson and Kimberly Davidson. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel. The Rev. Lawrence Rhodes will officiate. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels, 105 King Creek Blvd., Hendersonville, NC 28792. Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
