We are going to eastern Oregon thursday the 8 of this month. January we are going to work on a ranch. We get $300 dollars a year and my family barded. There is 1800 hundred acres plow land on the place. It is 5 miles from town. Arlington is the name of the town. Frank and Hattie is talking of moveing on ther new ranch the old Veach place on Beaver Creek. The new creamry is going to start to morrow. dad was up to day and got a can. News is scarce so I will close this time. Write soon.

William Lee

We start Wednesday and will get there Thursday. Direct your letter to Arlington Oregon.

Dear mother

As I have got so much to do I can not write much this time. Will write a long letter soon as we get settled again. I am making the babes some aprons to night and lining the baby a coat. I dyed it scarlet. Will send piece of the aprons. Will try and send something for the children later.

Hatties is a big girl by this time I suppose. Wish you all have your picture taken. I want one. Well I will have to go to bed it is 10 oclock.

Dode

Hattie wants you to write to her. She said to tell you the little tree Pa sent her is growing fine. What do you think is the reason you have not heard from Os. How far is it from where you live.

NOTES: Dora (Smith) Lee was one of Sarah's daughters. According to Dora's granddaughter (a fellow researcher), "Dode" was Dora's nickname. Thanks Darlene!!
             Dora married William Daniel Lee.
"Hattie" probably refers to Dora's sister, Hattie (Smith) Lefley.
"Os" is probably short for "Oscar"...Dora's brother.
