ARTHUR CONNOLLY

"Arthur Connolly
Funeral was Friday, Sept. 8 at Forest Grove Memorial Chapel for Arthur Connolly, 78, of Route 1, Box 129, Gaston. The Rev. Ivan Marble of Gales Creek Community Church officiated and private burial was in Skyline Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers were William Peters, Walter Vanderzanden, Nicolia Mathiesen, Willard Noble, Herbert Hoodenpyl and Alva McCollum.

Mr. Connolly died Sept. 5 in Forest Grove Community Hospital following an extended illness. He was born Oct. 7, 1893 at Gaston, the son of Thomas and May Connolly, and spent his entire life in that community. He received his education at the Thatcher School. He served in the U.S. Army as a private during World War I with Co. A, 28th Infantry. He worked as a logger for Stimson Lumber Co. from 1936 until his retirement in 1961.

He is survived by two daughters, Judy Stinson of Seattle and Sally Verboort of Gaston; brothers Roy of Yakima, Wash., Sidney of Crescent City, Calif., and G. C. Connolly of Banks; a sister Mary Klingenberg of Tacoma, Wash. and by two grandchildren."

"George Connolly, ex-store owner

Banks-
Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) for George C. Connolly, 83, Banks.
Mr. Connolly died July 2, 1989, at his home.

Pastor Ivan Marble of Gales Creek Community Church of God was to officiate at today's services at Donelson, Sewell and Mathews Mortunary in Hillsboro. Interment was to follow in Forest View Cemetery in Forest Grove.

Mr. Connolly was born May 15, 1906, in Thatcher, a son of Thomas and Mae Grondyke Connolly. He moved to Banks with his family at the age of 6 and had lived there since. He attended Harrison Elementary School.
On Dec. 24, 1933, he married Opal Reynolds in Mountaindale. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last December.

Mr. Connolly fell and bucked timber and drove logging trucks for several years before buying the Williams ranch in 1944, where he raised sheep and cattle. That same year he bought the Mountaindale Store, which he and his wife operated for 23 years.

Mr. Connolly was a member of several riding clubs and he and his daughter had won many ribbons and trophies in riding competition. He was a member of the Oregon Association of Mounted Posses and the Washington County Sheriff's Posse for 33 years. He was a 30-year member of the Royal Neighbors of America.

Survivors include his wife, Opal Connolly, Banks; a son, Merlyn (Punk) Connolly, Hillsboro; a daughter, Velene Tarkington, Forest Grove; eight grandchildren, Tammi, Penny, Bonnie, Troy, Ryan, Marchele, Kimberley and Todd; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Sidney Connolly, Crescent City, Calif.

Donelson, Sewell and Mathews Mortuary of Hillsboro was in charge of arrangements."

MERLYN CONNOLLY

'Merlyn D. "Punk" Connolly
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. April 13, 1994, in the Fuiten-Rose Chapel in Forest Grove.

Mr. Connolly was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Portland. He died of cancer April 8, 1994. He was 58.
Mr. Connolly graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army honor guard in Washington, D.C.
He married Carolyn J. Miller Nov. 14, 1954.

Mr. Connolly worked as a truck driver for Jacobsmuhlen's Meats, Tumac Lumber, Fleimng Foods, Santry truck Division and Norpac Services of Salem.

Survivors include his wife of Hillsboro; daughters, Marchele Manzo and Kimberly Lengele, both of Hillsboro; son, Todd A. of Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage; mother, Opal of Forest Grove; sister, Velene Tarkington of Forest Grove; and four grandchildren.

Interment will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Forest Grove. Remembrances: American Cancer Society, Washington County unit, or Washington County Hospice Inc.'



MILDRED S. (KEENE) THAIN

"RITES HELD MONDAY FOR MRS. THAIN

Funeral services for Mrs. Mildred S. Thain, daughter of Mrs. W. Keene of Hillsboro, were held this afternoon (Monday) in Caldwell's Colonial Mortuary, followed by entombment in Lincoln Memorial Mausoleum. She died Thursday in Portland Sanitarium following a brief illeness (sic).

Born March 25, 1918, in Portland, she was a clerk in Portland Sanitarium. She was a past royal matron of Kellogg Court No. 29, Order of Amaranth, and a member of Waverly chapter of OES, Daughter of Scotia, Stone Tower Seventh-Day Adventist church, and Insurance Women's Association of Portland.

Deceased is survived by the widower, William; a son, Dennis M. and daughter Linda J., Portland; her mother, Mrs. W. Keene, Hillsboro; three brothers, George Keene of Dilley and Arthur and Nelson Muir of Hillsboro, and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Hall, Portland."

OPAL GLADYS (REYNOLDS) CONNOLLY

"Opal Gladys Connolly
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 13, 1996, in Donelson, Sewell & Mathews Mortuary for Opal Gladys Connolly, who died May 9 at age 86.

Mrs. Connolly was born Oct. 30, 1909, in Mountaindale. Her maiden name was Reynolds. She married George C. in 1933. She and her husband operated the Williams ranch. They also purchased the Mountaindale Store from her parents and operated it from 1944 to 1967. Mrs. Connolly was a rural mail carrier in Cornelius for 20 years before retiring in 1974. She was honored as Sunset Mother of the Year in Banks in 1962. Mr. Connolly died in 1989.

Survivors include her daughter, Velene Tarkington of Forest Grove; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Forest View Cemetery."


ROY CONNOLLY

"Roy Connolly
Roy Connolly, 76, of 301 S. Eighth Ave., died Monday in Summitview Manor Nursing Home.

He was born Aug. 26, 1902, in Hillsboro, Ore. He served with the U.S. Army before moving to Yakima in 1920. He owned and operated the Roy Connolly Ice and Fuel Company in Yakima for many years. He retired as foreman for the J.M. Perry Ice Company.

Mr. Connolly was a longtime member and past president of Yakima Eagles Lodge No. 289.

Survivors include two brothers, Sidney Connolly of Crescent City, Calif., and George Connolly of Banks, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Alice Youngblood of Yelm and Lewis Klinginberg of Tacoma."

Yakima Eagles Lodge No. 289 will officiate. Interment will be at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Casketbearers, Past presidents of the Yakima Eagles Lodge No. 289, will be Ray Sears, Carl T. Moody, Marvin Lamb, Harold Sorenson, Alfred Frueh and Leonard Violet. Mr. Connolly is survived by two brothers, Sidney Connolly, Crescent City, CA., and George Connolly of Banks, OR.; many nieces and nephews including Mrs. Alice Youngblood, of Yelm, WA., and Lewis Klinginberg."

Aloha-
Sally Lorraine Connolly died Friday, Nov. 30, 1984, in a local hospital after a long illness with cancer. She was 44. At Mrs. Connolly's request, there were no services.

She was born on July 16, 1940, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth Jane (Finsley) Connolly.
She is survived by a daughter and son, Lorraine and Brian; her mother, Jane Nussmeier; and her companion, Ed Alonzo; and her sister, Judy Thiringer.

Forest Grove Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

The family suggests contributions to the Cancer Patient Awareness Program, 2187 N.W. Marshall St., Portland 97209."

"SIDNEY CONNOLLY, NATIVE OF YAMHILL

Crescent City, Calif.
Sidney James Connolly, 90, Crescent City, died Oct. 7, 1995. Graveside services will be Friday at 1 p.m. in IOOF Memorial Cemetery in Crescent City. Visitation will be at Wier's Mortuary Chapel Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Mr. Connolly was born Nov 1, 1904, in Yamhill and had lived in Del Norte County in California for 47 years. He worked as a foreman for Simpson Timber Company before his retirement. Mr. Connolly had been a member of the IOOF Lodge in Crescent City since 1950.

Survivors include two daughters, Darlene Tomlinson, Crescent City, and Judy Jones, Albany; a son, Harvey Connolly, Crescent City; seven grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Opal Connolly, Forest Grove.

The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of choice. Wier's Mortuary Chapel of Crescent City is in charge of arrangements."

Funeral services were held in the Forest Grove undertaking chapel Monday for Thomas W. Connolly, 88, of Mountainside, Cornelius route 1. He died at the Forest Grove General hospital October 26. Interment was in Forest View cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, May; sons, Burton L., George C., both of Mountaindale; Arthur, Dilley; Sidney, Portland; Roy, Yakima, Wash.; daughters, Winifred Keene, Portland; Mary Klinberg, Yelm, Wash."

"Connolly Rites Held on Monday

Thomas W. Connolly of Mountaindale died in Forest Grove General hospital October 25 at the age of 88 years. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Forest Grove Undertaking company chapel, with Rev. H.E. Sias officiating. Burial was in Forest View cemetery.

Mr. Connolly was born in Dublin, Ireland, December 22, 1856, and came to the United States when he was seventeen. He married May Groendyke at Atchison, Kansas, on October 7, 1886. They came two years later to Oregon, where they spent most of their married life.

Mr. Connolly is survived by his wife, five sons, Burton and George of Mountaindale, Arthur of Dilley, Roy of Yakima, Sidney of Portland; two daughters, Mary Klingenberg of Yelm, Wash.; Winifred Keene of Portland; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren."
