William was a bachelor at the time of his marriage to Mary Gill. He was a miner at Emu. They were married by Wm. McFennett according to the rites of the Church of England. The witnesses were James Arrally and Samuel Stephens.

He was a miner at the time of his daughter Mary's marriage in 1883.

At the time of his death he was a miner. He died from haematuria and intercurrent pneumonia after 7 days. The informant was his son William Reeves of Major Line, Kooreh. The undertaker was William Clarke. The minister was Rev. Joseph T. Piercey, a Primitive Methodist Minister. He had spent 3 years in New South Wales and 36 years in Victoria, indicating he arrived in Australia in 1849.
