Mount Gilead was established in 1826 on the site of the old Gilead camp ground.  It is the oldest Methodist church now in White County.  The other Methodist churches of the County are Mount Carmel, Findley, Almyra, Shady Grove, Ravenscroft, Wesley Chapel, Doyle, Dodson, Fraizer, Lost Creek, Rogers, and Mount Piszah.  These are all Southern Methodist Churches. "

This day came into open Court as well the Attorney General James Rogers Esqr. as the Defendant in his proper person, who being arraigned and charged upon the bill of Indictment pleaded Guilty thereto and for his trial put himself upon the mercy of the Court, it is therefore considered by the Court, that for such his offence he make his fine by the payment of five dollars, together with the cost of this proscution, and that the Defendent be in custody of the Sheriff &c. whereupon came William C. Britain into Court, and acknowledged himself the defendents security for the fine and cost aforesaid and that execution issue against his estate jointly with the estate of the Defendent.
