Clarifying George W and George Washington BRITAIN

from

BR*N Spelling of surname (Sos) Interchangeable

Both with the given name George,
one was George W BRITAIN,
and the other was named George Washington BRITAIN.
The following is intended to clear-up confusion between the two.

George W BRITAIN, b. 1827 TN McMinn Co., was the son of John BRITTEN
(which is the spelling on John’s marriage record).

Help Stamp-out Embellishment
"Not middle name of Washington is highlighted."
His middle name was W, no period:  So, I, too, will go back and correct all of my writing!  And, yes, it looks like a typing omission!   Plus, when I happen to see it again, I will post the letter from the cousin culprit who "fesses-up" to changing George’s name in John and Catharine’s Bible.

While you are at the stamping-out, do the same for those 2 t(s).
Not/Not Brittain.  Unless you are going to call the man wrong about his own signature!

George Washington BRITAIN was the son of Albert Ross BRITAIN,
and the brother of Cousin Irene Peddicord peddicord-caption.jpg
Since he is not my direct ancestor, I defer to these two resources
(click on the image, then click on that image to enlarge more):

Now...Why would John name his oldest son, George W BRITAIN?
There was a George Washington, U.S. President, a John Wesley "Methodist"
and the strong possibility of William as John’s father.
Perhaps another clue is here:

n.  While noted here as the 3rd, there were actually plenty more named George.

Please let me know if I've taken a wrong turn or two or so,
and thanks for taking the time to compare your records.
