Rest came to Nora May Joiner Wednesday morning about five o'clock March 18, 1964, when she was found dead at her home in New Shawneetown having reached the age of 63 years, seven months and 26 days. She had been in ill health for many years, but her death was unexpected.
Nora as she was called was born in Hardin County, near Cave-in-Rock on July 21, 1900 the daughter of George and Mintie Lampert. On November 1, 1915, she was married to Jerry Blain, who passed away in 1917. She was later married to William Bluford Joiner on July 15, 1918 whose death occurred only 11 days before her death.
They moved to Golconda in Pope County where they made their home until 1937 when they moved to Shawneetown. She was the mother of nine children. Ruth, Junior, Herbert, and one unnamed preceded their mother in death. Those who survive are three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Mary) Hise, Mrs. Bill (Pearl) Thorne of Shawneetown, and Mrs. Amos (Berneice) Brooks of Junction, two sons, William Frank and Paul Deneen Joiner, addresses unknown, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, three brothers, Floyd Lampert of Shawneetown, Orval Lampert and George Lampert of Cave-in-Rock, 6 half brothers, Clifford and Robert Price of Cave-in-Rock, Harold Price of Elizabethtown, Eugene Price of Sparks Hill, Herbert Price of Decatur, and Earnest Price of Old Shawneetown, two half sisters, Mrs. Martha Moore of Chandler, Ind., and Mrs. Pearl Frailey of Jacksonville, Fla., and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Smith Edwards Funeral Home in Ridgway Friday, March 20, at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. Kenneth Snow officiating. Interment was in Callicott Cemetery, Pond Settlement community, with arrangements by Smith and Edwards Funeral Home of Ridgway.

She was the mother of Mrs. Bill (Mary) Hise and Mrs. Bill (Pearl) Thorne, both of Shawneetown, Mrs. Amos (Berneice) Brooks of Junction, and William Frank and Paul Deneen Joyner, addresses unknown. She also leaves three brothers, Orval and George Lampert, both of Cave-in-Rock, and Floyd Lampert of Shawneetown; and the following half-brothers and sisters: Clifford, Sinfred, Eugene, and Herbert Price, all of Cave-in-Rock, Harl Price of Elizabethtown, Ernest Price of Old Shawneetown, Mrs. Martha Price of kentucky and Mrs. Pearl Frailey of California. There are 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Joyner was born in Hardin County, July 21, 1900, to George and Minta Lampert. She and Mr. Joyner were married July 15, 1918, and had lived in Shawneetown since 1936.
The body has been received by the Smith and Edwards Funeral Home in Ridgway where arrangements are pending.
