Cancer Takes Life of Young Mother of Six

Services in Saline Mines Church Monday for Mrs. Geo. Morris

Mrs. Marjorie Morris, 34-year-old mother of six living children, died at the family residence near Saline Mines at 2:00 o'clock Saturday morning following an illness of two years. A victim of cancer, Mrs. Morris was seriously ill for seven weeks and underwent surgery on July 7, returning to her home two days later. She was the  wife of George L. Morris, Bowlesville Township Supervisor, who is chairman of the county board.

Funeral services were held at the Saline Mines Presbyterian Church at 2:00 o'clock Monday afternoon with Rev. J. K. Gannett of Equality officiating. Interment was in Reid cemetery near Saline Mines with arrangements by the Wright Funeral Home.

The daughter of Winfred and Pearl Oxford of Elizabethtown, the deceased was born in Hardin County on February 8, 1921, and attended the schools of that community.
[She was united in marriage] to Mr. [Morris] in Shawneetown on September [?]3, 1936, to which union was born eight children, six of whom survive. They are Winfred Earl, 18, Wilmaetta Ruth, 12, Malcolm Lee, 8, Wanda Faye, 7, Wendell Dennis, 6, and Davie Ray, 2, all at home.

Also surviving besides the husband and her parents are three brothers, Glen Oxford of Pontiac, Mich., Morgan Oxford of Elizabethtown and Duard Oxford of Shawneetown; and six sisters, Mrs. Lester Hampleman, Mrs. Lavern Hanson, Mrs. Charles Smalley, and Miss Sadie Oxford, all of Chicago, Mrs. Nolen Kanady of near Equality and Mrs. Leroy Raines of Elizabethtown.
