Fletcher, Mrs. Joyce (b. BEF 1600)Note: a will of a Joyce Ward is listed on page 451 of PS 315, The PublicRecords of the colony of CONN. The will is dated 4 Mar 1640. She was ofWethersfield, and wrote it 15 Nov 1640. She had sonns Anthony Ward,Willia[m] Ward, Robert Ward and John Ward. Her eldest son Edward Ward. Her son in law was John Fletcher. Sounds like son Robert is in England? She was a widow. No mention of daughters. Inventory taken 24 Feb 1640.
Note: Unknown source said he was the Thomas Clark born 31 Mar 1605 inWesthorpe, Suffolk, England, and died 2 Dec 1679 in Newport, RI. This isthe wrong Thomas Clark.
His age at death indicates that he was prob born in 1599: "in his98th year". In the book "The Great Migration Begins" page 377, is thefollowing: "John Insley Coddington argued forcefully that Thomas Clarkwas the son of John Clark, pilot of the Mayflower, and that he wasidentical with the "Thomas son of John Clarke of Ratliff" who wasbaptized 8 Mar 1599/1600 at St. Dunstan's, Stepney, Middlesex [TAG42:201-02]. The hypothesis is very attractive, and was accepted byJacobus [TAG 47:3], but remains underproven."
