"Emma was born December 29, 1846 in Vestal, N.Y. and died February 17, 1928 Friday night at her Union, N.Y. home at midnight after a long illness. Cemetry records show bronchial pneumonia as cause of death. Funeral services were held at the home, 200 West Main Street, Endicott Tuesday, February 21 at 2:00 pm, conducted by the Rev. Theodore Dewees, pastor of Christ Church. She was buried at Chenago Valley Cemetery (Lot 111, Section N) in Binghamton, N.Y. She was married by the Rev. Dr. Paddock December 25, 1865 to Henry Leroy Fowler whom she met as a student in his class. Emma had a beautiful disposition - quiet in manner, enjoyed a good time and was always a cordial hostess. People were always welcome and if they were not staying for a meal or a longer period, Emma always found something to serve. On her Golden Wedding Anniversary, her husband, not given to paying family compliments, was overheard speaking of his wife, 'I never knew your mother to have a quarrel, a fuss, or any disturbance with anyone.' Her husband often remarked that his brown-eyed Emma had the most beautiful complextion of anyone he ever saw."
