Roberts Family
John Roberts, of Pencoed, has been sometimes confounded with JohnRoberts, of "Peny Chwd," Denbigshire, who settled in Merion prior to1690; a man of sixty years when he married Elizabeth Owen, agedseventeen, daughter of Owen Humphries, and sister to Rebecca, wife ofRobert Owen, of Merion, whom, and her brothers, Joshua and John Owen, sheaccompanied to Pennsylvania from Llwyn Ddu, in Merionethshire. This JohnRoberts was the grandfather of the John Roberts hanged as a Tory in theearly part of the Revolution. Two or three other John Roberts emigratedfrom Wales at approximately the same date and located in or near theWelsh Tract.
