The Coe genealogy refers to Thomas and his large family:
Thomas Coe, born in Middletown, Conn., May 18, 1727, soon after attaining his majority followed his elder
brothers, Jonathan and Ebenezer, to Torrington, Conn., whence he soon removed to Litchfield, Conn., where he
engaged in farming during the remainder of his life, and died Feb 23, 1810. His wives were members of the
Torrington Church.
He married first, about 1751, Abigail Leaming of Middletown, Conn, born Dec 4, 1726, died May 17, 1755
daughter of Jeremiah and Abigail (Turner) Leaming.
He married second, Oct 23, 1755, Lois Cowles of Torrington, Conn., who died 27 Jun 1756.
He married third, Feb 15, 1757, Mrs. Mary Godell Keyes of Pomfret, Conn., born about 1727, died Sep 10,
1812, aged eighty-five.
The Thomas Coe family is included on the 1790 federal census for Litchfield CT as 2 males over the age of 16, 1 male under
the age of 16 and 2 females probably indicating that a married child and their family was living with Thomas and Mary at that
time.
Mary's first marriage and children from that union are noted in the official records of Litchfield CT
I noticed an interesting naming pattern in some of the descendants of Thomas and Mary; daughters Abigail and Mary both
named a son Truman. Often, such naming patterns are derived from maiden names of ancestors; I would not be surprised to
find a Truman grandma somewhere in the background of this couple!

lived until his death, Feb. 2, 1762, aged seventy-seven years.
His will dated Feb. 21, 1761, probated at Middletown Feb 20, 1762, directs son-in-law John Wilcox to support
for life Barbara Coe, wife of testator; mentions eldest son Jonathan Coe; son Jedediah Coe and daughter Mary of
