MARRIAGE: First white couple ever married in Geneva, NY.

MILITARY - from Marianne:
"Windham Township, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania, 1787-1977" says that John S Whitcomb was a Pvt in the CT Militia, under Col Hay's Reiment.
"Whitcomb's in America"? says he worked under Col Hughes, and was placed on PA Pension Roles in 1832, and had entered the service at 16 (or 13) from Windham, CT. (Marianne Note: From that, he would have been born in 1766, otherwise, he didn't get his pension until he was ancient.)
"DAR Records lin #52062" state that he was a substitue in the wagon dept, 1779-1780 under Cpt Simeon Catlin and 1781 under Col Hughes. In 1832 he was placed on the pension role of PA for 2 years actual service, PA line. His wife also received a pension.

It was necessary for him to cut logs, raft them 60 miles to the nearest sawmill, load the finished lumber and provisions into a boat and pole back up the river." .

RESIDENCES:

Hemlock Bottoms, PA 1811-
Laceyville, PA
Scottsville, PA.

NOTES from Marianne, and TO DO:
We need to write away for his military records to straighten out his age and wife, etc. The grame I say for John S Whitcomb in Laceyville was for a man that supposedly died at age 98, which would have put his birth in 1740, not in 1766. He still could have had a wife that was 34 years his junior. But, then who was the John listed in the Colchester township records, that was born to Job and Anna Whitcomb on 10 Jun 1766? Hopefully the records would straighten that out. ...If he was born in 1766, who went to Laceyville with Job Whitcomb?
