Under William DOTY (1759/67 - 1812) (William)
"William was born somewhere between 1759 and 1767 and married in Columbia Co., N.Y. Phebe Rowley, daughter of Simeon Rowley. William was a farmer and lived wth his family at or near Spencertown in the town of Austerlitz, but removed later to the vicinity of Dunham, Missisquoi Co., Quebec. At the break of the War of 1812, the family returned to Austerlitz. William enlisted in the army and died in camp, November 1812.

From Marianne:
William Doty lived near Spencertown in the town of Austerlitz, ColumbiaCounty, New York. It lists him as a farmer. At some point he moved toDunham, Missisquioi County, Quebec Province, Canada. He has been tracedto that area of Quebec by the marriage of his son, Orange, married aCanadian. At the start of the War of 1812, between the US and Britian,William returned to Austerlitz and enlisted in the Army. It is reportedthat he died in camp. I have found records of Orange Doty, William's sonand William regarding their military unit but nothing else. No more infoon William's father William except he prob had another son named Joseph.

Children of William and Phebe Doty all were born in Austerlitz, except as noted:
