OBITUARY: from Brian Smead:
Obituary of Water J. Smead from the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, 3 July 1951 Walter J. Smead, 60, died at 7:05 p.m. Monday in a Chicago Hospital. He had been living in Chicago since February. A native of Fort Wayne, he spent the last 35 years of his life in Canton, O. He was a painting and decorating contractor there. He was a member of St. Clara's Catholic Church in Chicago. Survivors include his wife Pearl; a son, John F. Smead, Waynedale; and two sisters, Marguerite and Grace, of Chicago. The body will be returned to Mungovan & Sons Mortuary where friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and 9 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, the Rev. Sebastian Kremer officiating. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery

NOTE: Did have middle initial of "L", but obituary has it "J".
