"Anderson S. Ballard settled in the township in 1830. He was a native of Virginia, and removed to Fort Wayne in 1825. He married Susannah Archer, and was engaged at Fort Wayne as a brick mason until the date of his settlement in this township. He remained in the township until 1855; was elected Justice of the Peace and served several years. He removed to Noble County, Ind., in 1855, and remainded there until death."
