MONROE D. DELLINGER, Private:
He resided in Lincoln County where he enlisted on the 6th of July1862, at the age of 24, for the duration of the war. He was captured atFalling Waters in Maryland on the 14th of July 1863. He was confied atOld Capitol Prison in Washington DC; then transferred to Point Lookout inMaryland on the 8th of August 1863, transferred again to Elmira, New Yorkon the 16th of August 1864. He was paroled at Elmira on the 10th ofMarch 1865; received at Boulware's Wharf, James River, Virginia on the15th of March 1865 for exchange. Monroe Dellinger did survive the warand return to Lincoln County and Gaston County where he lived with hiswife until his death in 1925.
