Will of Thomas Maurice 1640

In the Name of God Amen the
twentieth day of July Anno Dom[ini] one thousand six hundred and Forty I Thomas Morrice
of Llangattocke Llyngoed in the County of Monmouth and Diocesse ^of^ Llangoffe Clercke being of
good and perfect memorie god be thankest doe make and ordayne this my last Will and
Testament in manner and forme Following First I com[m]end my soule unto Almighty
god my Saviour and my body to be buryed in Christian buriall within the parishe Church
of Llangattocke Llyngoed. ^Item I give towards towards
[sic] the repara[ti]on of the p[ar]ishe church of Llangattocke afores[ai]d two shillings six pence.^ Item I give towards the repara[ti]on of the Cathedral of Landaffe
two shillings. Item I give devise and bequeath all and singular my messuage house Lands
meadows pastures woods tenements and hereditaments together with the revertion
and reversions, remainder and remainders thereof with their appurten[a]nces unto
Roger Reynolds of Saint Wenards and Jane my grandchild his wife lyinge wheresoever
within the parishe of Llangattocke Llyngoed within the County of Monmouth To have and
to hould all and singular the said messuage houses Lands tenements hereditaments
with the revers[i]on and revers[i]ons thereof with their appurten[an]ces except the Lands Comonly
Called glan trothy being seaven parcels lyinge in Llangattocke aforesaid to the said
Roger and Jane for the terme of their naturall lives; And after their decease to the
heires of the said of the said
[sic] Jane by the said Roger lawfully begotten or to be begotten
forever, and for want of such issue to the righte and next heirs of the said of the said Jane; Item
my meaninge and will is that the said Roger and Jane shall and will content
and paie unto Thomas Reynolds John Reynolds and William Reynolds Alice Reynolds
Jane Reynolds and Hester Reynolds sonnes and daughters of the said Roger Reynolds
and Jane the sum[m]e of one hundred pounds of lawfull money within two years next
Cominge after my decease to be equally devided betweene the said sonnes and
daughters And in default of such payment to be made by the said Roger and Jane or
by either of them in manner and forme aforesaid, I give devise and bequeath
to my Executrix herein named all my lands lyinge in Langattocke aforesaid
Comonly Called Castle Coch, y Crostyth and tyregarni, Cay Mybor, Cayerbont, gworlode
yr bennar, Cae Crun, Llyne yr ponnde and Erocossyan for to be sold to make payment of the
said hundred pounds to the said sonnes & daughters ^of the^ said Roger Reynolds and Jane in manner
and forms aforesaid Item I give and devise unto Rosse Hanbury my grandchild all my
Lands Called glantrothy before excepted to the said Rosse her heirs and assynes for
ever; Item I give unto the said Rosse the som[m]e of Tenne pounds of lawfull money
of England; Item I give and devise unto William Reynolds the sonne of the said
Roger Reynolds one messuage with the appurtenances lyeing ^in^ Uske, which of late
I purchassed of Thomas William deceased to have and to hould the said messuage
with the appurten[a]nces unto the said William Reynolds his heirs and assignes
for ever Item I give unto Margaret Lewis the daughter of Lewis William
Probert
the sum[m]e of Five pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid within
one year nexte after my decease Item I give ^unto^ Henry Richards my servant
the sum[m]e of three pounds of lawfull English money to bee paid within
one year next after my decease Item I give unto Elizabeth Price my servant
the sum[m]e of twenty shillings Item I give unto the poore of Llangattocke the sum[m]e
of thirty shillings to bee paid and devided betweene when my Executrix shall
thinke fitt Item I give unto Daniell Marrice my reputed sonne twenty
shillings Item I doe nominate and appointe my well beloved wife Margarett
Morrice
sole Executrix of this my last will and testament and doe revoke all
former wills In witness whereof I have signed sealed and delivered this my last
will and testament the daye and yeare above written in the presence of those whose
names are hereunto written and doe give unto my grandchild Katherine Hanbury
the sum[m]e of Five pounds
