According to "Curtis, NE, The First 100 Years" she was born 23 July 1855.
F190, p. 211. According to Nita Cole, Matilda was killed when something
startled her horse and the horse took off and threw Matilda, & because of an
operation a few years past she died. Her obituary says, "She endured the
hardship of the pioneers & bore her part bravely and has gone to her just
reward." They called her "Tilly."
