Was an expert with needle and thread. She pieced a great number of blocks and
quilted many quilts. Emma's father, William Hinton made a loom on which she
wove carpet. She sold many rugs and yards of carpet to people for miles
around. Came to Stockville in 1885 & lived 3 miles west of Stockville. Was
ill for 6 weeks. Moved to Geneva at age 6. Had purchased 160 acres from Wm.
Hinton. Had a hand dug well & lived in one room soddy for first few years.
Built new home 1913 & bar 2 years later. Died of cancer at home of daughter.
