Linda's Family Genealogy

 My goal is to research the descendants of several of my ancestors.  The following genealogies are those that I am currently researching.  If you click on the bold area, you will go to a database for the listed family.  This database is built with GED2HTML and can be searched.  If you have additional information on any of these families or want to add to the information here, please email me at lmjg56@yahoo.com 

  • James Hinton was born 16-Sep 1785, married Elizabeth Snik and died 7 January 1861 in Bedford, Pennsylvania.  His grandson, William Hinton, married Sophia Mary Manges and moved from Pennsylvania to Stockville, Nebraska.  William was born 7 March 1832 and died 14 July 1905.  He and Sophia had 15 children.


  • John Cole was born in 1819-1822 in Alfred, Allegany, NY and married Elizabeth Shepard, b. 12-Nov-1835 in NY.  They lived in Fenton, Whiteside, Illinois in the 1850 census and then, Elkhorn, Plymouth, IA.. John died in IA and Elizabeth went on to Stockville, NE.  They had 13 children.

Somewhere, William Hinton's family and John Cole's family were in proximity and as a result three Hinton children married three Cole children as below:

  • The Hinton Family Reunion is held in Curtis, Nebraska at the city park annually on the second Sunday in August.  All descendants of William and Sophia Mangus Hinton and John and Elizabeth Shepard Cole are encouraged to attend.  For specific information, please email me at lmjg56@yahoo.com.

 

  • Hugh Calkin was born in 1600 in Monmouthshire, England.  He came to Massachusetts in 1640 and was one of the founders of New London, CT.  He and his wife, Ann, had seven children.

 

  • Brian Chamblin was born about 1685.  He died in 1756 in Prince William County, Virginia.  His son, Aaron, married Jane Elzey (?) and had two children.
