My full name is Paul Charles Landry and I am the son of Alfred Landry (s/o Charles Peter Landry and Beatrice Landry, both of River Bourgeois) and Mary Alvena "Jean" McNamara. (d/o Daniel McNamara, of Lower River Inhabitants and Alfreda Levangie/Levandier, of Whiteside) My parents met while my mother was teaching in River Bourgeois. She was a boarder at my grandparent's house on Church Point.

My two sisters, Barbara  Quirk and Lynn Arsenault, and I were born and raised in
North Sydney, Nova Scotia. I feel fortunate because as a child, we often visited
"The River" on long weekends and over the summer holidays. I have many fond
memories from my visits there. (As well as car sickness on the old highway!)

After graduating from high school in Sydney Mines, I attended Mount Allison
University in Sackville, NB, to study music. I graduated in 1982 with a degree in music (piano). While there, I met my future wife, Lynn Snow, born in New York
City. We were married the summer of 1982, moved to Dartmouth, NS, where she was employed as a music teacher. I went on to finish an education degree at
Dalhousie University.

Ironically, my teaching career began where the Landry family was settled just
prior to the expulsion, Windsor, NS. (Piziquid) There, I taught Music, French
and eventually Grades 5 and 6. After many long days car pooling and teaching in
the area for 8 years, I transferred to Lower Sackville, to be able to spend more
time with our growing family. We have three wonderful children, Kristina b.1984;
Jacquelyn b.1990 and Alexandra b.1996. I am presently employed as a grade 6
teacher with the Halifax Regional School Board.

My interest in genealogy began with my mother, who kept a little black book with
the known family information in it. I didn't have much of an interest in it until I made a "mistake" using the Internet. I was talking to a colleague when I thought I was logging into my webmail server. I was actually at a search engine. When I hit enter.......WOW!! I was off and to the races. It's hard to believe that was 3 years ago!

I have been researching the Landrys of River Bourgeois, McNamara's of Lower
River Inhabitants and to a lesser extent, the Levangies/Levandiers of West Arichat and Havre Boucher. Interesting to note my parents share a common ancestor in Francoise Lavergne; through her Lavandier marriage (Mom's side) and through her Clerge marriage (Dad's sides). That produced many chuckles and interesting family comments! I love this stuff!  :-{)

Take Care,
Paul
