I did not begin actively searching beyond great-grandparents until January 2000. Our son was assigned a family heritage project for school. When he began asking questions about my paternal grandfather, the answers were not adding up chronologically.  I had heard all the stories, but had not compared them side by side until then. That began what has been a wonderful new hobby for me (though we still have not figured out the details of that grandfather's immigration to the US).

It is one of my husband's lines that connects to Isle Madame. However, one thing I have learned is that serendipity plays a big part in genealogy. Therefore, I am listing all the names I am researching.

Researching:

Nova Scotia: BENOIT, DADEAU, DESLAURIERS, PETTIPAS/PITTS

Portugal: COUTO, MATTOS, VIVERIOS

Quebec:  BOIS, CASGRAIN, CHAPDELAINE(CHAPLAIN), CHARBONNEAU, COTE dit FRECHETTE,
LABOURLIERE dit LAPLANTE/MADOR(E), SEVIGNY de CHESTER

Turkey and Armenia: ARIKIAN, SALBARSARIAN
