6. What are your hobbies?
Genealogy of course. But I also enjoy computer gaming with my son Andrew.
7.How did you get interested in Genealogy? How long?
I have a great aunt you could call it (1st cousin three times removed) named (are you ready) Wildflower Beatrice Weed. And she wrote a small pamphlet on the descendants of my HALL family line which connects down to me from a great great grandmother named Mary Jane HALL. I was fascinated by this little pamphlet my whole life and thought some day I would work on it some more. There was one particular family tradition in my family that Mary Jane's husband (David Mitchell) had a great grandfather names Josiah Mitchell who fought in the Revolutionary War. He was called Captain Josiah in our family records. So In 1986 I decided to check this out. Well, he was only a Private in the Continental Army, but we was a Captain in the local town militia in the small town in Maine where he resided and he was also the town hogreeve amongst other honors. This was more fun that I could have imagined. I researched this Mitchell line a little bit more and was stunned to find I had about 6 Mayflower passengers in my ancestry. Of course I dug into my Acadian lines and learned a lot there. I was surprised, but shouldn't have been, when I discovered that I was related to my wife (her mother's maiden name was Boudrot). We are tenth cousins. I have since worked on my grandparents lines which are English, Acadian, German and Polish so I have had to learn a little bit about all these countries, the languages, and their history. I have also worked on my wife's Irish lines. I sometimes spend a lot of time on the hobby and then get distracted for a while but I really enjoy the hunt.
8. What is you occupation? Tell us about your career.
I am the VP of Marketing for a startup software company in Acton, MA called Vigil Technologies. I have been in the high tech business since I started having worked at Hewlett-Packard, Prime Computer, Banyan Systems, and Sun Microsystems before coming to Vigil. I have traveled extensively during my career and try very hard to make those quick side trips to conduct genealogy. I have been able to do some of this in England, once in Australia, once in PEI and lot in various states in the U.S.
9. Are you retired? If so, what keeps you busy now?
I have a long way to go before I retire. But I do look forward to it. It
will be great to actually go to court houses when they are open during the
work day.
10. Are you involved in Charity work or projects?
I spend some time on the Concord Library Committee where I live. It is a
great library with a great history.
11. List the family names you are researching & from what locations.
My current "hot list" on my side of the family: My polish Macul, Rodzen,
Lobanot lines. The English ancestry of Samuel Green who emigrated to PEI in 1808 from London. The Irish origins of my Hall line which come from Inchiquin, Clonpriest/Killeagh, County Cork.
On my wife's side: Finding the town of origin for Michael Buckley who m. Mary Flynn in County Cork, Ireland. Finding the origins of the Carroll/Green lines in Newfoundland. Any of a million Acadian lines I haven't figured out yet. Many keep coming in from the Ile Madame list where my wife's Boudrot line comes from.

I hope to some day publish a comprehensive family history.

Cheers,
Jeff.
