My name is Barbara Jean Boudreau White. I was born in 1948 to John William Boudreau and Rita Ann McCaffrey at the Newton Wellsley Hospital, Newton Massachusetts. I am the granddaughter of Celina Roy and Albert Boudreau who
lived in Arichat in the early 1900's on Cove Road and brought their children to Newton, Massachusetts around 1922.

Celina had 11 children and my father was John William Boudreau, was her youngest. I am his only child. Celina lived with us and I remember some of the stories she told me as I was growing up. Being a child, I didn't realize how much those stories would mean to me now that I am 52 yrs old! My grandmother was about 75 when I was born and lived with us for almost all of the rest of her life.  She greatly influenced me as my mother worked and I was home with her a lot  after school. She died at age 93. She is definitely the spark that started me on genealogy and interest on my Arichat roots.

I went through the Newton School system and graduated Newton High School in 1966 and went on to Salem State College for 4 yrs. I married Michael F. White, also of Newton, in 1970 and we had two children. Melissa, age 29,  is now living  in New York City, married, and working as a paralegal. Jonathan, age 26, is living  in Norwich, CT, and is getting married in June. He is a computer technician.

My husband Michael worked for General Electric so we moved around Massachusetts quite a bit and then down to Connecticut for a few years. I worked for Connecticare, an HMO, as an Administrator Quality Resource Coordinator. In real English it pretty much meant that I audited claims for quality control and
trained our new claims clerks. Connecticare closed down my department and laid  off everyone in it including me in Sept. of 1996 as part of their resizing. The timing was perfect as my father became very ill just at this time.

As it turned out my father was dying of prostate cancer and my mother was suffering from Alzheimer's. My husband and I took them in to help them through this period. My father died March 5th 1997. My mother could not adjust to my house in Connecticut because of the Alzheimer disease so my husband and I moved to their house in Falmouth on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. This is where I am now living. My mother had to be put into a nursing home last year.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to go to Arichat in 1994 with my father and mother and have a look around. We found the house on Cove Road that was the house my father was born in and remembered. Per my research, I have found that it was my grandmother's father's house. She had moved into this house when she married and the census shows her living there with her husband, Albert Boudreau, her father, Pierre Roy aka Peter King, and her first child Clemont.

Several of my cousins at a family wedding asked me if I could put together what I knew about the family as I had the guest book from my grandmother's 90's birthday party. Many of us are afraid that our roots will be lost. Once I started, I couldn't stop.
I am currently researching Boudreau, Roy, Boutin, and LeBlanc and have started on my husband's family.
