Sandra was my 2nd cousin. She was the daughter of Roland and Henrietta Wood. Henrietta is my mother's cousin; their mothers were sisters. Contrary to the wording of the obituary, her parents do not survive her.
The following obituary appeared in Tribune, from San Luis Obispo, California on 4 January 2002:
Sandra DanielsSandra Claire Wood Daniels, 63, of Los Osos died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, after an extended illness.
A private graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Los Osos Valley Memorial Park. The Rev. Holderhoff of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church will officiate.
Mrs. Daniels was born and raised in Orange County and lived in Los Osos for 22 years. She was one of the first Peace Corps volunteers and served in Brazil as a 4-H extension agent for two years in the early 1960s. She was a dedicated employee of the Bank of America and retired after 30 years as a loan officer. She enjoyed volunteering with the Los Osos Historical Society and the Performing Arts Center at Cal Poly. She also worked as a docent at Hearst Castle.
Mrs. Daniels is survived by her daughter, Stacy Daniels; parents, Roland and Henrietta Wood; sister Diane Moorman; brother Robert Wood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Hospice Partners of the Central Coast.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Los Osos Valley Mortuary and Memorial Park.
