Obituary of Dr. John Sheridan Arnold
Dr. John Sheridan Arnold and my great-grandmother, Carrie Carvell Niess, were second cousins. They were from different regions of mid-state Pennsylvania, but both ended up in Washington D.C. Carrie's husband, Edwin A. Niess, was the attorney of record for the Arnold family in the District, so they did know and perhaps even socialize with each other. This obituary appeared in

ARNOLD, DR. JOHN S. On Friday, January 6, 1939, DR. JOHN S. ARNOLD, beloved uncle of Mrs. Rosmary Arnold Elliot, and James R. Arnold. Remains resting at his late residence , 5000 Illinois Ave, n.w. Services will be held at Transfiguration Episcopal Church, 15th and Galiatin sts nw on Saturday, January 7, at 10 a.m. Interment Port Treverton, Pa.
