Hannah Valentine Carvell was the second wife of Thomas Carvell, the stepbrother of my great-greatgrandfather, Jeremiah Mark Carvell. The following obituary was shared with me by one of her descendants. I know not which newspaper carried this obituary. There is a notation on the side of this that says she was buried on October 16, 1940. Mrs. Hannah Carvell, aged 82 years, widow of Thomas C. Carvell, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward Tomlinson, Waynesboro, Saturday. She had been ill but a short time. Surviving are two sons, Harve Valentine of Minot, N.D., and Smith Valentine, Mifflintown, and one daughter, Mrs. Anna Jane Tomlinson. Seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.
The body was removed to Mifflintown Saturday morning where furneral services were conducted at the Guss Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 o'clock, in charge of Rev. Paul W. DeLauter, assisted by the Rev. Stover of Waynesboro. Interment was in Presbyterian Cemetery.
Relatives and friends from a distance attending were: Mrs. O'Donnell, Richard O'Donnell, Rev. and Mrs. Stover, Waynesboro; Mrs. Ivan Beard, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tomlinson, Warren Tomlinson, Mrs. and Mrs. Bert Valentine, Mrs. and Mrs. Burris, Mrs. Willow Stimeling, Harrisburg; Mr. and Mrs. D.B.
