Catharine Buckius was the widow of George Auxer, son of Jacob Auxer and Susan Ward. George went west to Gold mining country in California where he died. Susan remained in Lancaster with their only child, Susan. Catharine's obituary appeared in the "Lancaster Daily Intelligencer" on Thursday, April 8, 1909, as follows:MRS. CATHERINE AUXER. Mrs. Catherine Auxer, an aged lady of this city, died on Tuesday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry R. Troast, (sic) at No. 15 East Lemon street. She was 80 years old and her death was caused by general debility from old age. She was born and always lived in this city and was a daughter of the late William Buckius. The only child of the deceased is Mrs. Troast and her only brother is Charles Buckius, one of Lancaster's best known old citizens. The funeral takes place on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with interment at Woodward Hill.
