Obituary of Barbara Ross Brenneman

I would describe Barbara Brenneman as a "shirt-tail relative" of my great-great-grandmother, Catharine Auxer Niess. She was her third cousin, once removed. They shared the same religion. The Ross family, the Auxer family, the Niess family, all were there at the creation of The Church of God. Dr. Geo. Ross, who the obituary described as Barbara's Uncle, was the publisher of The Church Advocate until the time of his death. Barbara's obituary appeared in the Church Advocate a publication of The Church of God, on February 21, 1912:
BRENNEMAN.-Barbara Ross Brenneman, wife of John Brenneman, of Elizabethtown, Pa., January 12, 1912, aged 63 years, 10 months and 10 days.
Sister Brenneman was a daughter of Dr. Robert Ross and a neice of Dr. Geo. Ross.
it is a well-known fact that the Ross's and Brenneman's were very prominently identified with the early organization of churches in East Pennsylvania.
Sister Brenneman and her companion were members of the church at Elizabethtown for forty-three years. The Sister was interested, not only in the work of the local church, but in the general interests as well.
Death came very suddenly, and yet it was not unexpected, for she seemed to have a premonition that her departure would be sudden. A husband and two sons, as well as many relatives and friends, mourn her departure, but not without a glorious hope.
