Elizabeth Auxer
Michael Auxer
Catharine Auxer Bowers
Emanuel Bowers

Not too much is known of this family. What is known is that the patriarch of this family was George Auxer, and he was a weaver in Heidleberg Township, York County from the early 1820's until the time of his son's death. He vanishes after that! He appeared out of nowhere and he vanished back into it! Any ideas?

His family is buried in Bair's Meeting House Graveyard in Heidleberg Township, right outside of Hanover, York County.

Elizabeth's headstone reads as follows:

In Memory of
ELIZABETH
Wife of
GEORGE AUXER
Born April 12
1783
Died May 7, 1841

If there is more, it is unreadable

Michael is buried next to his mother. His headstone reads as follows:

In Memory of
MICHAEL AUXER
Born April 3, 1822
Died Mar 4, 1849

Next to Michael, and turned around backwards, is Catharine, his sister. Her headstone reads as follows:

CATHARINE
wife of
Emanuel Bowers
Died Oct. 22, 1880
Aged 62 yrs
9 mos & 11 ds

Emanuel is buried directly in front of his wife ~ you can see her headstone in the background. His headstone has two other headstones leaning against it. When we found this, the flag was laying down and the Civil War Service Star was covered by weeds. We tried to give him the honor he deserves as a Veteran. His headstone reads as follows:

EMANUEL BOWERS
Died May 12, 1897
Aged 68 yrs 6 Mos & 27 Ds
Co. B., 53rd Reg. Pa. Vol.
