Mannheim soldier killed
when motorcycle hits truck

MANNHEIM, West Germany (S&S) - A 20-year-old Mannheim soldier was killed Tuesday afternoon when his motorcyle struck the back of a tractor-trailer truck, a military community spokeswoman said.

Spec. Timothy C. Fisher, assigned to the 277th MP Co at Coleman Barracks, was pronounced dead at the scene by a German doctor after the 3:30 p.m. accident near the Heidelberg exit on Autobahn 6, the spokeswoman said Wednesday.

At the time of the accident, Fisher and another soldier also on a motorcycle were traveling in the right lane in the direction of Frankfurt. When the other rider switched lanes to pass the truck, Fisher hit the rear of the trailer, the spokeswoman said.

Fisher is survived by his wife, Spec. Marcia A. Fisher, of Hq Det 28th Trans Bn in Manheim; and his parents, Richard H. and Carolyn S. Fisher of Kent, Washington.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Coleman Barracks chapel.
