Thomas Carvell was the fourth child born to Joseph Britton and Mary Hyle Carvell. He married twice, first to Margaret Rebecca Swab who died in 1914, and the second marriage to Hannah Valentine.
The following obituary is from The Juniata Tribune, Mifflintown, Penna., Thursday, August 19, 1926:
Thomas B. Carvell, passed away at his home on Orange Street, Thursday morning at 10 o'clock, after an illness of ten weeks. He was aged 72 years and 7 months.He is survived by his wife and one son, Joe Carvell, of Battle creek, Mich.,; also by the following brothers and one sister; Joe and Charles of Michigan, William of McAlisterville, Cyrus of Thompsontown, Elmer of Mifflin, and Mrs. Phoebe Bolton of Harrisburg. The following step-children also survive: H.B. Valentine of N. Dakota, Mrs. Edward Tomlinson of Waynesboro, Mrs. Margaret Hawk and S.E. Valentine of this place.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock after which interment was made in Locust Run Cmemtery.
Relatives and friends from out of town were: Mrs. Ida Swab and daughter, Blanche; Mrs. and Mrs. Cloyd Swab; Mrs. Samuel Helsor; Mrs. Annie Helsor and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. William Swab, all of Altoona; Mr. and Mrs. Vic Crosson, Mrs. T.F. Dunn, Mrs. Phoebe Bolton and Miss Emma Heikes, of Harrisburg; Mr. and Mrs. Rickenbaugh, Mr. and Mrs. Lenig of Sunbury; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Crosson, son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Crosson, of McVeytown; Mr. and Mr. Edward Tomlinson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tomlinson, and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Beard, all of Waynesboro.
