Margaret Rebecca Swab was the first wife of Thomas Carvell. They married around 1880, and she passed away in 1914.
The following obituary is from The Juniata Tribune, Mifflintown, Penna., Thursday, February 12, 1914:
Mrs. Carvell died while on a visit
Mrs. Thomas Carvell, nee Swab, who accompanied by Mr. Carvell, came east from Vicksburg, Michigan, several weeks ago to visit relatives and friends in this county, and became ill as a result of an attack of gangrene while at the home of Jacob Kauffman at Mt. Pleasant in Walker Township, died last Thursday, aged 53 years.
She is survived by her husband and one son. The latter resides in Michigan and was unable to attend the funeral owing to the serious illness of his wife. The funeral took place Sunday at 10 o'clock, services being held in the Locust Run Church after which interment was made in the Locust Run Cemetery.
