Leah had been the widow of Thomas Benton Carvell since October 26, 1907 when he had died in Thompsontown. They are both buried in the East Salem Presbyterian Brethren Churchyard in Juniata County, Pennsylvania. The graveyard is at the Otterbein Methodist Church in East Salem. Buried along with them are Thomas' brother Joseph Britton Carvell and his 2nd wife Mary Hyle Carvell. Thomas and Leah's daughter Anna G. is also buried there, as is Lewis, the son of W.F. and Ida Carvell. The following obituary was found on microfilm:
Mrs. Leah Carvell, who died at the home of her son 81 Main Street, Steelton, Monday, will be buried tomorrow at Thompsontown, Juniata County. Owing to the developing of a case of diptheria at the home of her son, with whom she lived, the body was removed to the undertaking chapel of Dunkle and Knoderer Undertaking Company where services will be held this evening at 7:30 o'clock. Rev. W.S.Sturgen, pastor of the Main Street Church of God will officiate. The body will be shipped to Thompsontown tomorrow. The deceased is survived by two sons, William Francis Carvell, of 81 Main Street, Steelton, and Lewis B. Carvell of North Dakota; 21 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Diehl and Mrs. Annie Newman, of McKees Half Falls, two brothers, John Kerstetter and Frederick Kerstetter of Port Treverton.
