Obituary of Joseph Carvell Joseph Carvell was the sixth child born in the marriage of Joseph Britton and Mary Hyle Carvell. His wife, Alice Ulrich was a granddaughter of Hannah Carvell Shaffer, making Alice and Joseph second cousins. The obituaries that follow refer to Joseph as "Joseph B.", although no other reference to him has ever had a middle initial.
From The Three Rivers Commercial, Three Rivers, Michigan, August 31, 1927"

Joseph B. Carvell died suddenly at his home in Parkville at 7 o'clock this morning, following an attack of acute gastritis. He was 69 years of age.
He is survived by a widow, two brothers, and a cousin, John Shafer, of this city.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

From The Vicksburg Commercial, Vicksburg, Michigan, Friday September 2, 1927:

Joseph B. Carvell, 69, dead at Parkville, Wednesday morning after a short illness. Funeral will be held at the M.E. Church in Parkville, Friday (today) at 2 PM Standard Time. Burial in South Park.
