Maggie Peiffer and Elmer Carvell were married in 1890 in Thompsontown. She died seven short months after her husband. The following obituary is from the Juniata Tribune, Monday, January 11, 1937, Mifflintown, Pennsylvania:
Mrs. Elmer Carvell
Margaret Elizabeth Carvell of Mifflin died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gibson Pannebaker, Friday at 11:45 A.M. after a two week's illness, aged 66 years, 9 months and 16 days.
She is survived by two daughters and one son: Mrs. Thad J. Walters, Elkhart Ind.; Mrs. Gibson Pannebaker and Cloyd Carvell of Mifflin. One brother, William Peiffer of Linglestown and 18 grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Carvell was a member of the P.O. of A., of the Methodist Church of Mifflintown for the past 40 years, and a devoted mother to her family. Her husband passed away 7 months ago.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of Mrs. Pannebaker, Path Street, Mifflin. Rev. Rollin Taylor, assisted by Rev. W.R. Jones of Newport, will officiate. Interment will be in Presbyterian Cemetery.
