Mrs. Charles Carvell Passed Very Suddenly on Friday

Francis Elizabeth Hill, daughter of Horace Comstock Hill and Mary Jane Holmes Hill, was born in Park Township, St. Joseph County, Michigan, August 14, 1871. She died at her home in Vicksburg, October 26, 1934, very suddenly.

Her childhood days and years of youth were spent in the old ancestral home where her grandfather, William Hill, located on what was the Nottawa-Seepe Indian Reservation, in the spring of 1841. Her ancestors in both the Hill and Holmes families were settlers in Kalamazoo County in the early thirties.

On February 25, 1892, she was united in marriage to Charles E. Carvell, who was born April 13, 1866, in Perry County, Pennsylvania. To this union were born three children: Clair S., Mary, and Ray. Clair and Ray and their families live in Vicksburg, while the daughter Mary and her family resides at Grand Ledge, Michigan. Besides her husband and children she leaves to mourn her loss, three brothers, Malcom, Charles and Allen Hill, and one sister, Mrs. Grace Springer, all of Vicksburg; also six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Nearly all of her married life was spent at their home in Mint, where in her later years she and her husband devoted so much of their time among their flowers. Her bouquets will be missed in many a home.

She was a member of the Mint Ladies Aid, St. Edwards Altar society and the Vicksburg Rebekahs.

She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a true friend to every one. She will be remembered for her many acts of kindness and sympathy.

Prayer service was held in the home of the Rev. Thos. Leamon and the funeral at the Catholic Church in Vicksburg of which church she was a member. She was laid to rest in the Vicksburg cemetery, October 29, 1934.
