Mary Swanger was the wife of Benjamin Carvell, the step-brother of Jeremiah Mark Carvell, my g-g-grandfather. This is her obituary as it appears in the Juniata Tribune, on Thursday, June 9, 1932, Mifflintown, Pennsylvania:
Mrs. Mary Carvell, 73, Passes Away
Mrs. Mary (Swanger) Carvell died Sunday, June 5, at 1:30 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Annie Portzline, of Locust Run. She was 73 years of age. Her husband, Benjamin, preceded her in death 12 years ago.She is survived by three daughters: Mrs. Anna Portzline and Mrs. G.G. Nearhood, both of Locust Run, and Mrs. Sadie Briggs of Tyrone.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Locust Run Evangelical Church. Interment was made in the Church cemetery.
