Obituary of Arthur B. Carvell

Arthur Carvell was one of the children born to the marriage of Thomas F. and Emma Albrecht Carvell. He died Thursday, February 20, 1997. The following obituary appeared in an unknown newspaper with the following picture:

Arthur B. Carvell was born Nov. 30, 1921 in Washburn, N.D. Following graduation from Washburn High School in 1939, Art's employment with the Washburn Leader began his lifetime trade as a printer.
A WWII veteran, Art served in the U.S. Army in the Alaskan Aleutian Islands. Upon completion of active duty he became the owner and publisher of the Wilton News in 1947. He relocated to Fargo in 1950 and began a 30-year career with theForum. He married Eileen Rita Smith in 1951, who died in 1989. He retired from the Forum in 1980.
A life-long sports enthusiast, Art enjoyed coaching American Legion baseball in his earlier years. He relished the beauty of North Dakota's landscape, and was an avid gardener. In his later years Art volunteered for Bonanzaville, USA, where he demonstrated an antique printing press. He enjoyed classical music, playing bridge, and was an accomplished photographer.
Art died on Thursday, February 20, 1997, at age 75. He is survived by Helen Wang, his devoted friend; Sisters Myrtle (George) Skaff, Florence AZ., Vivian Haring, Portland, Or., brother, Robert (Della) Lecompton, Ka.; daughters Mary, Wayzata, Mn., Susan, Scottsdale, AA., Christine, Plymouth, NM., son Tom (Lurie), Fargo, ND and five grandchildren.
The funeral will be on Monday, at 12:00 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit. There will be a prayer service held on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. in the boulger Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
