Burlingham Rudd ~ Holt, County of Norfolk, England

Burlingham Rudd was twenty years old in the summer of 1728 when he was arrested

and confessed to stealing a grey horse off of Poringland Common in the

County of Norfolk, England. He was sentenced to transportation as his punishment.

Based on my research, I believe he was transported to the British colony of

South Carolina in late 1728 or early 1729 where his indenture was sold for seven years.

Once he regained his liberty, he and his family migrated to

Anson County, North Carolina where he settled along Jones’ Creek,

a tributary of the Pee Dee River.

Here you will find the details of my research.
