Lincoln County Journal, April, 1914
"In the death of Mr. Andrew J. Murray which occurred at an early hour last Saturday morning at his late residence near Goshen , everybody in Lincoln County felt a deep and sincere sorrow. The aged and respected man had been ill for some time and his recovery had been despaired of by those of his family who nursed him tenderly in his last days. He was of rugged, strong constitution and had withstood the ravages of time and sickness longer than his three score and ten years. He was 84 years old when he died and until recently displayed wondrous vitality. For many years Mr. Murray lived in Lincoln County. Here it was that he married a daughter of the late Grant Glaze and their union was blessed with five children who are now grown up and prominent in the business and social circles of the communities in which they reside. The children are Mr. W. T. Murray, a prominent farmer of this county; Mr. J.P. Murray, who serves as United States Deputy Marshall of this district of Georgia; Mr. David Murray of Florida, Mrs. Will (Sarah) Drinkard and Miss Nancy Murray. There was widespread sorrow when news of the death of Mr. Murray was circulated last Saturday and the funeral which was held at the old Grant Glaze place last Sunday, was largely attended by saddened friends and relatives. The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge of which the deceased had long been a member buried their dead with impressive ceremonies and Rev. LeRoy conducted the funeral."
