9:30 a.m.-noon FAMILY HISTORY TOUR
Bob Baker will lead a driving tour to and through sites (settlements, homes, farms, cemeteries, churches) where Baker and Fuller ancestors lived, worked, played, and are at rest. Participants will travel in their own cars, caravan style. Assemble at Newton Recreation Center at 9:30 a.m. (To assure an adequate number of handouts, Please let Bob know as soon as possible, if you plan to participate. The July 10th deadline has passed, but family is still welcome to be a part, and we will have a couple of extra copies of handouts available.)
Afternoon EXPLORE ON YOUR OWN
Just chill out, or play a round of golf at nearby Stonehedge or Shadowbrook courses. In Tunkhannock, check out the Triton Fire Carnival or the old swimmin' hole on the South Branch of the Tunkhannock Creek or visit the Historical Society Museum. In Scranton, check out a coal mine or visit Steamtown. In Factoryville, celebrate the life of baseball Hall of Famer Christy Matthewson who was a student at Keystone when Will Baker and Will Fuller were students there.
8 p.m.-9:30 p.m. CAMPFIRE AT BARDWELL
Storytelling, singing, marshmallow roasting 'round the campfire.
Sunday, August 10, 2003
Morning WORSHIP ON YOUR OWN
Whatever your present family's faith practice, this is a great time to thank God for bringing you and your family into existence as well as the many blessings that abound. Unfortunately, the original Newton Baptist Church of which Sarah (Kimble) Fuller was a founding member is no more. However, her oldest grandchild Melissa Ackerson Phillips was later a member of Elm Park Methodist Church in Scranton and many of the Bakers worshipped in Methodist congregations at Newton and Schultzville, as well as the Bethel Evangelical Church (which is now United Methodist) near Falls. In a more recent generation, Newton has also become home to the Catholic Church of St. Benedict.
1 p.m. until ANNUAL REUNION PICNIC
Family members are to gather at Bob Baker's place in Bardwell (actually 112 Saddle Lake Road, Tunkhannock). Folks are to bring covered dishes; hamburgers, hotdogs, drinks and place settings provided by the Family. Ken Baker will preside over the annual meeting. Carolee Hughes will present the heirloom quilt. Alicesandra Widmann will give gifts and prizes. Games and sports will get underway after the meeting. (To assure an adequate number of tables and chairs as well as burgers and dogs, Please let Bob know if you plan to participate. Although a July 10th deadline has passed, we still would like to encourage your participation and will have a few extra seats available.)
